Grismond Tien
Grismond Tien graduated from the University of Manchester with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree (second upper class honours) and a Master of Laws degree (LLM) in International Business Law (merit). He was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore in 2012.
Grismond practises litigation, arbitration and mediation. His areas of practice include commercial and contractual disputes, defamation, divorce and family disputes, construction disputes, Management Corporation Strata Title / condominium disputes, trust property disputes, wills & probate, personal injury claims and criminal cases.
He was involved in one of the first few Facebook / online defamation cases in the High Court – Golden Season Pte Ltd and others v Kairos Singapore Holdings [2015] SGHC 38.
In the area of family law, he has acted in heavily contested divorce proceedings and personal protection order proceedings. A notable contested divorce case which went on appeal to the High Court of Singapore is VTP v VTO [2021] SGHC 36.
In the area of criminal law, he has handled cases involving corruption, drugs, outrage of modesty, criminal breach of trust, theft, drink-driving, affray and harrassment. He was involved in a notable corruption case – Public Prosecutor v Li Chaoyun [2020] SGDC 215.
He has also handled international arbitration cases in the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) and the International Chambers of Commerce (ICC) involving commercial and contractual disputes.
